My main research interests are in the social and ethical implications of new technologies.
I'm keen to encourage those involved with AI and computing to adopt a professional and responsible attitude towards their work. This includes the use of AI in safety critical areas, and human factors in decision support systems.

I'm the responsible officer for Research Governance in the School of Science and Technology. If you want to discuss ethical approval for your research project feel free to contact me. You should also look at this link.

I'm also involved with the Human-Centred Technology Group in developing applications for new technologies including multimedia, the Internet, and virtual reality which are socially beneficial.
